Snowed in = Doughnuts!

Oh Lord.  I did it.  I caved into my boys demands for doughnuts.  Except, it is snowing and blowing outside and I am not leaving the house.  What to do?  Homemade doughnuts!  Warm, crunchy comfort-foody doughnuts.  Again, Oh Lord.
     A seriously easy recipe :
Beat together:  1 cup sugar
                        2 eggs
                      1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla ( I did 1/2 as almond extract, ran out of vanilla)

add :  3 cups flour
         dash of salt
         2 tsp. baking powder
sprinkle of cinnamon, if you fancy

Mix together and drop by teaspoon into hot oil.  Fry em up until golden brown and drain them.  Then top it off by rolling in cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar.

Frying, something I almost never do, I forgot how fast it goes!

Crunchy, warm comfort!

Kid-tested!  Vladdie stole this one off the counter!

More basic knitting

I finished a cowl and matching fingerless mitts!  Here they are, modeled by my lovely daughter!

I made these without a pattern, using one stitch, which proves even a monkey can learn to do some basic knitting.  I fantasize about a time when I might be able to actually follow a pattern without anyone bugging me!  Knit on!

mitts galore!

I received 2 wool sweaters that had shrunk to munchkin proportions so I started messing around with them.  They are thinner weight, so I made several pair of "driving weight" mittens.  Then, when they were mostly gone, I finally made a pair of fingerless mitts, which I adore!  Now I just need to get my fingers mitts on some more woolen sweaters!
